Printing Solution for K–2 Students
📄 Printing Solution for K–2 Students – Airdrop
Date: 30 June 2025
Audience: All Schools
Owner: ICT Services
Related Teams: Teaching & Learning, ICT, School Leadership, CSA Staff
🎯 Overview
CECG Leadership team and Teaching and Learning have provided a recommendation for managing printing for K–2 students who are not required or expected to authenticate with PaperCut. The endorsed solution is the use of Apple AirDrop to facilitate printing via a teacher or Classroom Support Assistant (CSA).
✅ Agreed Approach
For K–2 students:
- Students will not authenticate to PaperCut.
- Instead, they will use AirDropto transfer documents to:
- Their classroom teacher, or
- A Classroom Support Assistant (CSA)
The recipient (teacher or CSA) will then print the document on behalf of the student via their authenticated device.
🧑💻 ICT Involvement
The ICT team will:
-
AirDrop is setup on student and teacher iPads.
- Ensure devices are appropriately configured to allow nearby AirDrop transfers.
- Provide guidance to staff on best practices for managing student printing workflows.
❗ Note on School-Level Endorsements
We acknowledge that this may differ from preferences previously discussed at the individual school level.
If school leadership would like to explore alternative workflows, they are encouraged to reach out directly to the Teaching and Learning team to discuss further.
